Publication Guidelines

There is no doubt that the major issue about heritage preservation in Nepal is the lack of education and knowledge of local people about the importance of heritage, history, culture and activities for their national and international attention. Prolonging of such a situation only helps in the decay and destruction of our heritages. Simultaneously, a factor called climate change is also there; it is changing the outlooks of our natural heritages. These are the terrible challenges and threats to the society.

There are 4 world heritage sites in Nepal and 15 sites are included in the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are so many places and sites with great significance in the country, which are yet to be exposed and preserved for future. Many sites are on the verge of extinction due to negligence and the lack of heritage education and awareness.

It is highly pertinent that an effective system be developed for mobilizing the local community groups on heritage conservation activities. We need to encourage the stakeholders and other institutions so that they would ensure active participation on heritage conservation and tourism promotion activities. For this, as per the objectives of the organization, the Publication Committee started making people aware about the importance of heritage sites through the publications. The organization has been publishing two heritage magazines: HERITAGE NEPAL in English and SAMPADA NEPAL in Nepali with international standard on a quarterly basis (four issues each/year). These are the only publications for the heritage preservation awareness works in Nepal. The committee has the expectation that the Nepali issue, i.e. Sampada Nepal will educate the people of Nepal and the English issue, i.e. Heritage Nepal will disseminate information to international community about the rich heritages of Nepal. Summary information of the publication is mentioned below.
